Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to . . . 

  1. Recognize the physiological and emotional symptoms of menopause.
  2. Discuss estrogen and progesterone physiology and laboratory measurements.
  3. Review the latest findings from current research regarding hormone replacement therapy.
  4. Analyze the laboratory results obtained in the female hormone evaluation.
  5. Discuss the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
  6. Discuss the differences between bioidentical and non-bioidentical hormones.
  7. Initiate individualized hormone treatment of the aging female.
  8. Monitor the efficacy of treatment; adjust the doses of hormones and related therapies; address side effects.
  9. Describe absolute and relative contraindications to ERT/HRT and alternative therapies
  10. Discuss issues related to female sexual dysfunction and new therapies to treat it.
